![]() ![]() ![]() It’s probably the most sincere, refreshing storylines I’ve ever seen in video-games. The story surrounding this game might seem uninteresting, but it really isn’t. You control Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong trying to thwart the plans of King K. DKC 2 featured a similar concept - and name - for its first world, but the first courses with the pirate theme were actually seen in Donkey Kong Land. The first world, Gangplank Galleon Ahoy, and as most people may have already known by now, was based on the ship which is King K Rool’s vessel. The game is composed of 4 worlds with differing number of levels in them - actually, all the worlds have 7 courses, while the first one is the one differing, with 9 courses. It marked the debut of a few features that were going to be better known when DKC 2 was released, but were out first in Land. ![]() So the world in which the second iteration of the Country series came to be was a world which had a Donkey Kong Land already. And as a game, it’s pretty solid.ĭonkey Kong Land came out in the same year as Donkey Kong Country 2, but it hit the shelves at the middle of the year, while DKC 2 came out at the end. It’s certainly not as incredible as a game, per say, to the console releases, but it’s incredible as a technical achievement nonetheless. It actually could deliver a portable experience that greatly resembles the Super Nintendo counterpart. It’s really quite an achievement what Donkey Kong Land managed to do.
